What’s In Store For 2012?

I love the title of this website, Living Better at 50+. What better way to say it? However, do you always feel that we’re living better in this decade and beyond?
Maybe you have recently experienced the “empty nest.” Or maybe you are nearing retirement. Those are big changes and can bring with them a sense of uncertainty and confusion as to what you will do now.
With the dawn of 2012 just around the corner, this is a perfect time to take some proactive steps to make this the best time of your life. You can’t wait until an opportunity drops in your lap – sometimes you have to go after it.
I started my home business journey right around 50 years of age. I had ended my years as a homeschooling mom and was ready to go on to something else. So, I prayed and asked God what that should be.
I started looking online for a home based business opportunity and found one that I loved – running an online Christian bookstore. My husband and I had considered the idea of opening up a physical bookstore but found the cost to be too high. So, running an online one with a minimal investment seemed perfect! And it was… for about a year. Then the company that I was a part of ran into some financial difficulties and had to close down for a period of time. So, it was back to the drawing board – or should I say the “praying board.”
That is when I started my current business, which is helping others to start a home based business that can give them purpose in their life. I know too, that there are scams out there that people fall prey to, and I want to help others avoid those.
I absolutely love my business and you can find something that you will love too! Make these years the best!
In all honesty, I am not too crazy about making New Year’s resolutions because I feel like if I want to do something, I should just do it now. Why wait? However, if you are one who does make resolutions (and that’s fine!) decide to take some definite steps toward your goal.
Don’t state your resolution as “I want to lose weight,” say I will exercise x many times per week or I will change the way I eat to a healthier diet, etc. (be as specific as possible.)
If you want to start a business, don’t leave your goal in vague terms. Decide what type of business to start and who your market will be. Set specific smaller goals that will lead you to reach the larger goal.
Take a proactive step toward making 2012 the year you pursue something you will love!
