Colors have an amazing influence on our moods and can be used to cope with stressful situations and environments. Light of varying wavelengths enter the eyes and influence the production of hormones in varying degrees, which in turn has a gentle influence on the body’s biochemistry.
Research, history and folklore have led to some of these common color/mood connections:
Power Red: Exposure may positively influence self confidence, a sense of power, appetite, and vitality.
Primary Orange: Exposure may positively influence success, happiness, social confidence, appetite and sociability.
Sun Yellow: Exposure may positively influence clear thinking, self esteem and inspiration.
Aqua Blue: Exposure may positively influence calmness, confidence and trustfulness.
Grass Green: Exposure may positively influence inner strength, harmony, self control and growth.
Lilac Purple: Exposure may positively influence imagination, peaceful spirit and creativity.
Rose Pink: Exposure may positively influence gentleness, relaxation and hope.
Sky Blue: Exposure may positively influence health, creativity, and clear thinking.
Too much of any color may cause irritability, impatience, and even depression. Choose combinations of colors that will influence the best results in areas of your life. Don’t be afraid to try using color variations in your home and work environments and your wardrobe. Color therapy is simple and enjoyable!
