While the humid and warm weather suggests otherwise, many of us are excited for the favorite season of the year, Fall, when layering of lightweight materials is fun and the leaves turn orange and red making for a colorful surrounding. Looking at the dress trends for Fall 2012, many trends from spring and summer such as floral, peplum and pastel, transition to fall. Some pre-fall trends such as the gorgeous red and the metallic also transition and are made trendier for fall.
The media are gushing about the hottest fall trend, the cape dresses, but for career-oriented women who prefer to subtly inject the trends to their looks without going for over-the-top, hottest trends of the moment, it’s worth looking at the easy-to-wear trends which you can effortlessly incorporate to your wardrobe.
The Fine Red
Red dresses significantly stoodout from the stage and it’s nothing surprising because red is a very striking color which grabs attention. From Christian Dior’s belted with side pockets and full skirt red dress to Zuhair Murad’s gorgeous sequined long gown, the red trend is made stronger.
There are many red dresses which you can choose from – evening gowns or casual day dresses. However, red isn’t for the faint of heart. This color exudes too much of confidence and you need to really have it in order to wear this color well. If going for a big red is too much for you (does the thought of red dress scare you?), opting for red separates is an option. Go for a red top or a red skirt and temper it with other colors such as white or black. You can also go for accessories such as red bags, red shoes or a red hat to level up a look.
The Trendy Metallic
Now it’s clear that the metallic trend will stay for fall. Alexis Mabille created lovely metallic dresses but it’s Gustavo Lin’s metallic jacket worn with a light green wrap dress that really impressed me. I love how bright colors temper the glitters of a metallic jacket.
Contrary to what you might be thinking, a splash of metallic is actually easy to inject to your outfits without you looking like a blooming sixteen years old. Get a silver metallic jacket to team with your classic black pencil skirt for a work outfit. For a glam look, opt for a silk metallic coat and finish off with sexy strap heels. To quickly wear the trend, go for statement metallic pumps to wear with a dress or skirt.
The Airy Pleated
I admit, these pleated dresses from (Left to right) Stephane Rolland, Valentino, and Jean Paul Gaultier took my breath away. They’re simply beautiful. Whether it´s belted, two-toned or edgy, an airy pleated long dress is certain to steal the show.
If you love the pleated trend why not secure yourself a pleated long gown for special occasions? You can also dress up a pleated maxi skirt for work (here are tips on wearing maxi skirts to work), or opt for a pleated short skirt to wear with sleeveless tops for some casual smart appeal. Remember that because pleats are airy, you would need to finish the look with chunky shoes such as platforms to give dimension.
What do you think of these fall trends? How would you incorporate them to your wardrobe?
